Almost no alpaca sock is 100% alpaca. Of the 227 pairs that publish their fiber content, the median is 56% alpaca, blended with nylon for strength and elastane for stretch. That is normal: makers add nylon so the heel and toe last. What matters is how much alpaca you get, and whether the store tells you. Data as of September 27, 2026.

What to look for
- The percentage. More alpaca usually means softer and warmer; a little nylon is a good sign for durability.
- Acrylic. It's a synthetic filler. If you want natural fibers, filter by “No synthetics”.
- A stated composition. If the store doesn't publish it, you can't compare.
- For men or women. 68 pairs are listed for men, 64 for women and 65 as unisex.
How to wash alpaca socks
